The School of Management Science and Engineering was established in 2017 from the reorganization of the related majors of the former School of Economics and Management, and its history can be traced back to the early 21st century. Our School takes education and teaching of fitting in with the needs of market as the guide to deepen the teaching reform and normalize the teaching management, cultivating numerous innovative, versatile and applied talents for our nation.

Programs Offered

Our School has a complete talent training system that integrates bachelor’s, master’s and doctor’s degrees, and has established a post-doctoral research station of Management Science and Engineering (first-level discipline). Our School offers the doctor degree program and master degree program of Management Science and Engineering (first-level discipline), the doctor degree program and master degree program of Emergency Management (first-level discipline), three professional master degree programs for Financial Engineering, Insurance, and Library Information, and seven undergraduate degree programs for Financial Engineering, Logistics Management, Information Management and Information System, Digital Economy, Economic Statistics, Insurance, and Big Data Management and Application.

Academic Staffs

Our School has well-organized and highly-internationalized faculty teams. Currently, there are 97 academic staffs, among which over 69% are associate professors and full professors.All (100%) of the faculties have doctor’s degrees and 8 of them obtained their PhD degrees from overseas.The School also has employed 5 part-time experts from overseas universities and famous financial institutions. Many faculties are the experts receiving the government special allowance distributed by the State Council, Middle-aged and Young Experts of Outstanding Contribution in Jiangsu Province, and selected in top-level talents programs of Jiangsu province such as “333 Project”, “Blue Project”, “Six Talents Peak” and so on.

Research Output

In recent years,our Schoolhas undertaken over 220 research projects, including 49 national projects, 61 provincial projects, 57 municipal projects and over 50 horizontal projects, with a total contract fund of 30 million RMB. In addition, our faculties have published over 650 papers on the core journals, including over 530 papers indexed by SCI/SSCI/CSSCI and over 60 papers published in ABS 3-star and above journals, and some of the achievements have won the approval of the main leaders of the State Council and the attention of mainstream media.Our Schoolalso published over 30 monographs and won 33 academic prizes at all levels. Based on high-level research institutes such as the “China Manufacturing Development Research Institute”, the “Talent Big Data Research Institute”, the “Risk Management and Emergency Decision Research Institute”, the “Management Science and Engineering Research Institute” and “The “Intellectual Property Research Institute”,our Schoolhas a well-structured scientific research team and conducts extensive academic exchange activities.

Talent Cultivation

Our Schoolattached great importance to the cultivation of the students’ innovative and entrepreneurial abilities. We implemented the plan of “Industry Professor” and employed 10 industry professors from famous enterprises like JPMorgan Chase & Co, Huawei, ZTE Corporation, Su’ning, Jingdong. In 2018, the School held over 50 different kinds of high-quality and well-received lectures. The “Weiguo Station” project under the guidance of our School’s teachers won the gold award in the first “China Internet + College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition” in 2015. Courses such as “Statistics” inour Schoolhave been approved as the national first-class course, and our School has won multiple awards such as the first and second awards of Jiangsu Provincial Teaching Achievement Award.

International Work

Our School has higher internationalization level. More than 88% of our faculties have overseas study experience. The teachers possess international vision with advanced teaching methods. Our School promotes extensive international education cooperation and has established good cooperative relations with 6 well-known foreign universities such as Cornell University in America, University of Reading in UK and etc.

Our School started to enroll international students from 2018. Currently, there are more than 50 international students. In addition,50 undergraduate students obtained opportunities to visit well-known foreign universities.

At present, our School and Department of Economics, University of Reading have a joint master’s program in Data and Decision Analysis, which was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2021.
